Oval Mat Frame

oval-frame-2sThis is the third of the three lovely frame illustrations that were used to showcase the portraits of The Women of the American Revolution. The two-volume set was published in 1900 and discussed the contributions of a number of great women who helped to make our country free from tyranny.

While there were 49 famous women profiled, unfortunately the publisher used only this frame, another vintage oval frame and a single-layered vintage border frame. All three of them contained a fleur de lis symbol.

Like the other oval frame image, this one contains a frame within a frame. You could easily use it as designed or separate them into a single larger rectangular frame and a slightly smaller oval frame.

This image has a bit more drama with the fans in each of the corners of the oval part of the frame.
