Vintage Motorcycles

A vintage trade publication on advertising included these two motorcycle advertisements as part of their conversation on designing a more attention grabbing display. I’m not sure if I agree with all of the points made but they preferred the top ad over the bottom one.

If I had to guess, the top one was chosen because it included several of the particular motorcycles they are selling along with prices. It’s certainly more informative. Yet, to me, the one that grabs the eye is the bottom one and the motorcycle picture is more prominent and clearly printed..

Regardless of which advertising image would have grabbed your attention, both have wonderful vintage art drawings of motorcycles.

And, I’ve also included the larger motorcycle image by itself. (Unfortunately, the scan of the other one didn’t come out decent enough to really use in isolation.)
