Vintage English Landscape Images

We’re starting our collection of landscape images, drawing and paintings with the beautiful English countryside from a 1911 book on traveling across England by motorcar. Many of England’s most famous landmarks are included in lovely pieces that are unfortunately not accredited to a particular painter. Though, if you are familiar with some of the artists represented, you might recognize their mark or signatures (I’m sorry but they’re simply too blurry and small in the scans for me to make out). Hopefully, someone will let me know who the artists are so that they can be recognized.

As FreeVintageArt.com grows, we’ll be hopefully adding more wonderful English landscape images for you to use in your own art.

Hampton Court

Lovely Hampton Court landscape painting by the English artist E.W. Haselhust R.B.A. Includes a bridge across the Thames, several buildings and flowers.

London Bridge

London Bridge as it was over 450 years ago. This English landscape drawing would be great for a mixed media art piece or other project needing a cityscape.

Old St. Paul’s Cathedral

This vintage English landscape drawing is of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London prior to the Great Fire of London in 1666. It is by the Flemish artist Antonie van den Wyngaerde.

Billingsgate Sketch

This almost 400 year old drawing of Billingsgate, a ward of London, depicts a pretty water-side town. I think it would work great as a historical town image.

The Swallow Falls, Bettws-y-Coed

Vintage English landscape painting of The Swallow Falls (Rhaeadr Ewynnol in Welsh) in Bettws-y-Coed in Wales depicting the falls and the surrounding countryside.

Shrewsbury House, Chester

Landscape painting of Shewsbury House (now Bear & Billet Public House) in Chester, Cheshire England – a famous and historically important black and white half timbered building.

Lichfield Cathedral

Vintage landscape painting of Lichfield Cathedral in England. The site oft the Cathedral has been a Christian place of worship for over 1300 years.
